Daily Living Support (NDIS)
Daily living support helps NDIS participants manage everyday tasks like personal care, meal preparation and daily routines, so they can live safely and independently. Supportr delivers this support with a small, consistent team across Brisbane, Ipswich and the rest of South East Queensland.
What Is Daily Living Support?
Daily living support NDIS is help with the everyday personal tasks that keep you safe, well and living the life you choose, whether that's in your own home or shared accommodation. It's funded through NDIS Core Supports, in the Assistance with Daily Life category, and delivered by a support worker who takes the time to learn your routines and how you like things done. The goal is never to take over. It's to support you to do as much as you can yourself, with a helping hand filling the gaps where you need it most.
What's Included
Daily living support NDIS covers a wide range of everyday tasks, and exactly what's included depends on your goals and your plan. It typically includes:
- Personal care: showering, bathing, dressing, grooming and hygiene support, handled with dignity and at your own pace.
- Meal preparation: planning, shopping support and preparing meals and snacks that suit your dietary needs.
- Medication prompting: reminders to take medication on time, plus help keeping scripts and dosette boxes organised.
- Morning and evening routines: getting up and ready for the day, and winding down safely at night.
- Life skills development: building confidence and independence with tasks like budgeting, cooking or using household appliances.
- Continence support: respectful, practical continence care and hygiene support, tailored to what you need.
- Mobility assistance: help moving safely around the home, transferring in and out of bed or a chair, and using mobility aids correctly.
Not sure exactly what you need help with?
That's completely normal, most people starting out aren't sure either. Book a free, no-obligation consultation and we'll talk it through with you.
Who It's For
Daily living support suits NDIS participants who want to keep living independently but need a hand with some parts of the day. Whether you're after personal care support in Brisbane, Ipswich or anywhere else across South East Queensland, it works well regardless of your age, disability or living situation.
Living independently, wanting to stay that way
Participants who live alone or with family and want support with personal care, meals or routines so they can keep living independently.
Recovering from illness, injury or surgery
Participants rebuilding strength and confidence after a hospital stay or health setback, who need consistent daily support while their independence returns.
Building life skills and confidence
Younger participants and those with intellectual or cognitive disability working towards doing more for themselves, with a team that teaches rather than takes over.
Higher or complex support needs
Participants with complex needs, including significant physical disability or high medical support needs, who need experienced, consistent carers.
How It's Funded (Assistance with Daily Life)
Daily living support is funded through the Assistance with Daily Life category inside your NDIS Core Supports budget. This category funds personal care, meal preparation, medication prompting and similar everyday tasks, and it's usually one of the largest, most flexible categories in a participant's plan.
Supportr is not currently a registered NDIS provider. Self-managed and plan-managed participants can use Assistance with Daily Life funding with us without any issue; NDIA-managed, also called agency-managed, plans are required to use a registered provider, so we're not able to support that plan type. If you're unsure which category your funding sits under, our team can help you work it out, or you can read more on our NDIS information page.
Daily Living Support vs In-Home Support
Daily living support and in-home support are often confused, but they cover two different things. Daily living support is about you: personal care, routines and building life skills. In-home support is about your home: cleaning, laundry and the domestic tasks that keep it running.
Daily living support
- Personal care and hygiene
- Meal preparation
- Medication prompting
- Life skills and routines
In-home support
- Cleaning and tidying
- Laundry and linen
- Grocery shopping
- Home safety checks
Many participants use both in the same visit: help with showering and getting dressed, then making the bed or starting a load of washing. Both draw from the same Core Supports budget, so mixing them isn't a problem. If most of what you need is around the house, our in-home support page covers cleaning, laundry and domestic assistance in more detail.
Areas We Service
If you need help with daily living, NDIS participants across South East Queensland can access Supportr, from Brisbane and Ipswich through to Logan, the Gold Coast, Moreton Bay and Redlands. Wherever you live in the region, we put together a small, consistent team local to you rather than sending whoever's available that day.
FAQs
A typical daily living support shift depends on your routine, but often starts with personal care such as showering, dressing and grooming, followed by breakfast and any medication prompts you need. From there, support workers help with whatever else is on your plan, whether that's life skills practice or getting ready for an appointment. Shifts can run from thirty minutes to several hours.
Support workers handle personal care with dignity, privacy and your preferences front and centre. Before support starts, we talk through exactly how you like things done and any sensitivities or communication needs we should know about. All team members are trained in safe personal care practices, and you're always in control of what happens and how, at your own pace.
Yes, Supportr supports participants with complex and high support needs, including significant physical disability and high medical support needs. We match complex needs to a small, experienced team rather than rotating casual staff, so the people supporting you build real familiarity with your routines and any specific protocols in your plan.
Daily living support is paid for from the Assistance with Daily Life category inside your NDIS Core Supports budget. This is the category the NDIS uses to fund personal care, meal preparation, medication prompting and similar everyday tasks. If you're unsure how much funding you have in this category, your plan manager or the NDIS can confirm it for you.
All Supportr support workers hold a current NDIS Worker Screening clearance and a first aid certificate, and have completed the NDIS Worker Orientation Module before working with participants. Many also bring specific experience relevant to personal care or complex needs, and every team member operates under the NDIS Code of Conduct.
Yes, Supportr accepts both self-managed and plan-managed NDIS funding for daily living support. Because Supportr is not currently a registered NDIS provider, we're unable to accept NDIA-managed, also called agency-managed, plans, but self-managed and plan-managed participants can access our services without any restriction.
